The Dems really needed only two words to respond to the court-appointed prez's State of the Union Address: Yeah, sure!

The HIGHLIGHT: According to Bush we have to attack Iraq now, before they become really dangerous like North Korea and ::GASP:: we have to negotiate with them.

That Korean Peninsula stuff Bush was selling should provokeAmnesty International into starting a letter-writing campaign in protest against W's continued torture of logic.

I'm all for overdue assistance to African AIDS victims (and I don't think the amount of help W mentioned is anywhere near what is needed) but it certainly did fit the theme of the night : Let's pour the public treasury into Big Pharma's coffers.

The AIDS initiative, the "Bio Shield," the "medical supplies" that will be brought in to rebuild Iraq (after, of course, Bush orders the place leveled) and the "let's use senior citizens as fiscal and medical guinea pigs" plans all would directly benefit pharmaceutical companies. Bush. the reformed drunk, wants to turn the entire world into pill-poppers.

But hey, if pill-popping is good enough for the United States Air Force, then it certainly should be good enough for the people it assaults.

Cheney had to restrain himself fromheiling when Bush declared, "The course of this nation does not depend on the decisions of others."

The course of this nation depends on the subversion of our own electoral decisions.

If people in Florida don't get a fair hearing, why would we be expected to listen to a bunch of international peace advocates?

John Ashcroft didn't attend because he was considered by Bush to be the perfect person to serve as dictator in case the rest of the government had gotten wiped out at the speech last night.

Plus Ashcroft was a little miffed when he heard W was planning on speaking out against Hitlerism.

Did you notice W didn't mention fascism on his list of evil doctrines the US has wiped out, just Hitlerism. I guess that's fair, Hitler's gone but his tactics are alive and well.

Bush spoke of "decisive days that lie ahead", but he didn't mention deceptive lies meant to mislead us during that period.

W said he will "answer every enemy and every danger that threatens the American people." Looks like he'll be spending a lot of time talking to himself.

He said "Our union is strong." But he couldn't prove it by airline employees.

Bush promised, to "not pass along our problems to future generations and presidents." It's true, our problems will seem minor compared to what your idiotic leadership will lead us to.

What a courageous goal he set in suggesting we need to teach children to read.

If that goes well, he may phase in writing and 'rithmetic nearly almost as quickly as he plans to initiate those permanent tax-giveaways to the ultra-wealthy.

He promised the largest tax relief in history -- he demurely didn't mention it would go to the smallest group of beneficiaries in history.

W said, "We are holding corporate criminals to account" Yeah, Swiss accounts.

The court-appointed president claimed, "Our economy is recovering." Of course it will never really recover until it starts attending Bush Anonymous meetings.

He wants to make his tax scam "permanent and effective this year." In other words, let's get this rigged now because you never know when someone will catch on and impeachment proceeding will commence.

My verbatim notes from the tax portion of the speech: yeah sure, yeah sure yeah sure (tax babble) what a flimflam humbug scam

The end of the dividend tax would be nothing more than a bonanza for stock market insiders and people who, as infants, had mobiles made of blue chips suspended over their bassinettes.
If we don't want to tax dividends, should we also get rid of deductions for market losses?

Bush says his goal is a job for every American who who wants one-- providing they don't mind licking Republican cowboy boots for a living.

Bush called for spending discipline -- from now on we will only only invest federal money in essentials like corporate welfare and warfare on behalf of corporations.

He called the American healthcare system a model of skill and innovation. It is, particularly when it comes to separating sick people from their life savings.

Enough of this crap about getting trial lawyers out of healthcare. Bush hates trial lawyers because they've impeded things like dangerous drug trials. Big Pharma doesn't want to be held libel for egregiously irresponsible behavior and so let's remove or at least cap all accountability.

And let's not forget that because of litigation, many have been healed with funds they have received in just settlements. Countless others have avoided injury or worse because the possibility of litigation provoked people and corporations to make the world safer.

Bush called for "energy independence while improving the environment." OK, while improving the environment for polluters --but why nitpick?

W said we will protect the environment in ways no previous generations could believe -- for instance; we have a former governor of New Jersey as the EPA chief. Thatis pretty unbelievable.

He mentioned "the homeless and fatherless and addicted" and suggested they needed federally- funded religious cures. How about scrapping the sky-god dogma and understanding that nothing creates more homelessness, addiction and orphans than war? So if you really want to end the cycle of despair, stop supercharging it with militarism.

And enough, already with the integration of church and state. That USA Freedom Corp he announced last year really has caught on, eh?

Foreign countries want to join the Freedom from the USA Corp.

Bush is a full-birth abortion. If he is against cloning then why is he replicating the Reagan/Bush supply side economic disaster?

Oh yeah, Afghans are real liberated - some have even been liberated from their lives.

Bush announced that "we are winning" the war on terrorism. Now if he could just get bin Laden on the schedule.

And how about the moment where he smugly described summary executions by saying, "Put it this way....." and then implied that "we lynched 'em."

"One by one terrorists are learning about American justice," said W. When the terrorists finish their lessons let's hope they tell the rest of us about summary executions, secret military tribunals, no habeus corpus, no legal representation etc., etc.
What this country needs is a defense system that can defeat ballistic Republicans.

Bush has directed the CIA, FBI and Fatherland Security to put together what he calls terrorist security integration, which in Russian is pronounced KGB.

He said, this is a "contest of will." And it is -- a contest of will between people who believe in Bill of Rights and those who understand it doesn't provide for efficient removal of potential enemies.

Nukewlar, Nukewlar, Nukewlar, Nukewlar! What a twit! He's going to end the world with a word he can't even pronounce.

Bush mentioned how "small groups of men seized great nations," which was rather dismissive of Katherine Harris's role in the 2000 election.
OK, in what we euphemistically refer to as the "2000 election."

Bush says his foreign policy is in place because "we are called upon." Hey George, you're hearing things.
And "the hopes of all mankind" to which W referred are that he stop rattling his saber, sit down and shut up.

Bush says he wants "the end of terrible threats to the civilized world" as he prepares to annihilate tens of thousands of innocents. Hey Jr., if you really want to end of terrible threats to the civilized world,
leave office.

And take Cheney with you.
He sent a message to "Iraqis who speak out for freedom," a group very much akin to Americans who speak out for peace.

A peaceful solution for a country developing nukes and war for a country without any? Now that makes perfect sense! Iraq "dominates a vital region," is W kidding? They have been starved and surrounded and bombed for over a decade. Iraq is about as dominant as the Cincinnati Bengals.

And anyone, anywhere with weapons could attempt to arm terrorists. It is no reason to start bombing entire nations.

The US armed terrorists in Central America for years and the people who did the arming now work for Bush. I thank the people of central America for refraining from bombing me for what members of my government did, against my wishes.

When is Bush going to account for the Anthrax that came from his own government labs and was used to kill Americans? We still have massive stockpiles of that stuff and even worse. That is as clear and present a danger as any hypothetical threat to our people.

And which vet of Bush's new war will blow up the next fed building, massacre the next group on a college campus or pin down the a metropolitan area for weeks with sniper fire? Why not weigh those hypothetical threats?

Bush says the only possible use for stockpiling chemical weapons is to "dominate intimidate or attack" Which is why Bush has them stockpiled.

And Bush's description of how a terrorist attack with a deadly agent in a drone could bring new horror to our shores was just a tad imprudent, wouldn't you say? Hasn't he ever heard of the power of suggestion?

Why not just draw a map for the terrorists and tell them when, where and how to dispense chemical weapons?
Bush said "terrorists and tyrants don't announce their intentions" Then he disproved his statement by continuing his speech.

Bush spoke out against torture and forced confessions, just another reason Ashcroft abstained from attendance.

And that stuff about how the people surrounding Iraq aren't enemies. Hey someone who carpet- bombs my homeland, family and friends is my enemy, W.

And to paraphrase George W. Bush: My enemy is ruling my country and the day he is removed from power, will be the day of my liberation.

I hope the soldiers who attended the speech enjoyed the applause they received because after the war is over and they return home to a bankrupt nation, they'll learn that there are few standing ovations for forgotten veterans.

Sometimes peace must be defended. --- My choice for Bush's oilwellian classic of the evening.

Bush claims that he wants to spare innocents in Iraq but his plan to set a new record for aerial bombardment in a few days, code name: Operation Awe and Shock, tells the real story of his absolute disregard for the sanctity of innocent lives.

Bush said, "We sacrifice for the liberty of strangers." Yeah but it's only because billionaires don't make friends that easily.
I was sorry to see the speech end. Three more fake standing ovations and Cheney's heart would have had to give out.
