Good thing W gave that speech last night otherwise Coleen Rowley's testimony before Congress would have dominated the headlines.

Nice to hear the court-appointed prez matter-of-factly describe the reliable info that's coming from Guantanamo these days. I wonder how much energy Enron diverted for use in interrogation rooms down there?

Court-appointed President Bush claims his new department is cost neutral. Cost neutral at a time all of the organizations it is supposedly coordinating have been given blank-check budget increases. The Office of Homeland Security is about as cost neutral as Bush is elected.

"Freedom and fear are at war. And freedom is winning." George W Bush's speechwriter as said by the marionette in national address --which explains why Bush, Cheney & Co are so busy promoting fear.

But with Kaiser Ashcroft and his swell new super federal police force, this can be reversed and freedom can be soundly thrashed once and for all.

When Bush speaks of security why do I see King George announcing that he's going to switch over and have his troops wear florescent redcoats?

Bush said, "We need to know when warnings were missed or signs unheeded, NOT TO POINT THE FINGER OF BLAME, but to make sure we correct any problems, and prevent them from happening again." Emphasis mine. Intent Bush's.

So the purported conservative Bush has decided that the best way to fight terror is with enlarged bureaucracy and deficit spending. Too bad reactionary boondoggles are never greeted with the same skepticism as programs that help the underprivileged.

We should call the Cabinet Post what it really is "Secretary of the Department of Keeping People From Noticing That The President Should Have Been Coordinating And Analyzing Intelligence Information Prior To This Disaster But Was Too Lazy, Incompetent and Corrupt to Discharge His Duties."

I'll have to come up with something better than that. It's one thing to type "court-appointed" thousands of times but "Secretary of the Department of Distracting People From Noticing That The President Should Have Been Coordinating And Analyzing Intelligence Information Prior To This Disaster But Was Too Lazy, Incompetent and Corrupt to Discharge His Duties" will wear me out in a week.
