It's nice to see that the court-appointed president is looking out for our interests by openly pining for a reactionary German government.

You know, the kind of German leadership that understands the reactionary desire for world domination.

I guess W won't be happy until someone says: I knew Adolf Hitler and you're Adolf Hitler.

The corporate media isnsists Shroder only won by a thin margin of course that is true unless you add to his coalition the Green Party, which makes his government far more stable and legitimate than anything we'll see in the USA for a long time.

Shroder actually apologized to Bush for making the court-appointed prez an issue in Germany and Bush graciously snubbed him. The occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has all the grace of a bad little league coach. When he loses he won't even let the kids shake hands, he just pouts, makes excuses and speaks poorly of the victor.

The best part of the entire German election came when BUSH ADMINISTRATION WAGS CLAIMED SHRODER MADE IRAQ AN ISSUE BECAUSE HE WANTED TO DISTRACT THE VOTERS FROM GERMANY'S DOMESTIC PROBLEMS. Now where do you suppose the Bushies would get an idea like that?

By the way, would someone inform the corporate media that international criticism of George W. Bush is not "Anti-Americanism," as they are so quick to label it. It's just Anti- Bushism.

Bush is an unelected, illegitimate cur and as such, does not embody this nation. OK he embodies all that's worst about this nation and if people want to be anti-all -that's-worst-about- Americans, we should send them a thank you note.

Bush was out giving his standard "terrorists are terrorists because they hate our freedom" speech again yesterday. They hate our freedom? Our freedom to do what? Live in the USA under the protection of the Bill of Rights? Nope, the Bushists have been making us much less hateable on that account since (literally) taking office.

Donald Rumsfeld said that Shroder's reelection was "not helpful." The German people are feeling pretty bad about the US Defense Secretary saying they aren't helpful because clearly it's his place to comment on the electoral choices of other nations.

Of course as a member of the Court-appointed Bush Administration Rumsfeld rarely thinks of voters as helpful, which is why W helped himself.

If the our enemies hate our freedom so much , how come they don't get along with John Ashcroft?

The freedom they really do hate is Bush's professed freedom to disregard international law so that he can preemptively assault any nation he chooses.

My friend John Joslin makes a good point-- if the rift with Schroder grows any larger, Bush may realize that he already has plenty of troops on the ground there and just go for a quick regime change in Germany.

Help me out, are we entering Gulf War II or Spanish-American War VI?

NO JOKE

Since Bush stole the election from Al Gore people have a natural desire to fawn all over Al whenever he employs his hind legs to take an all-too-rare stand. In fact, I'm thrilled Gore has joined Howard Dean, John Kerry and several members of congress in questioning Bush's insane march to war with Iraq. But to read the on-line anti-Bush pages you'd think Gore had given the Gettysburg Address in San Francisco on Tuesday. Unfortunately the details of the speech aren't quite so gallant. In it, Gore hedges his bet and tries to outflank Bush Sr. on the right for not going far enough with Gulf War I. And he also goes out of his way to reiterate his never-met-a-military-action-he-didn't -like credentials. I can attest to the validity of that claim.

I honestly can't remember Gore saying that the war should have continued at the time. Can you? I know I'd have taken vehement exception had I been aware of such remarks. To me the massacre of tens of thousands Iraqis was much further than the US should have gone. I understood that each minute that war continued meant the slaughter of more innocents. It's not the kind of thing I ever think should be prolonged.

I am thankful Gore expressed qualified opposition to the Bush war plan but his assessment of the previous carnage as too mild is not my idea of what should be articulated in immortal public addresses. So screw the patriarchal need to god-up Al Gore as our savior. Truly, the most encouraging thing about his address is that it indicates that a pollster somewhere has finally begun to fathom the depth of opposition to Bush's preemptive plans.

What we need to do is continue to lead political weathervane watchers with rank and file efforts. For starters we should grab everyone who represents us in congress and promise them that we will see to it that they will not return to their cushy jobs unless they take a stand against this looming massacre. While we're at it, we need to get on the same page about this: everything other than the fact that tens of thousands of innocent lives are about to be snuffed out is of comparatively little consequence. Gore made some good and important points about a myriad of issues but consideration of the well-being of innocents in Iraq was not among them. We need to speak up for the innocents marked for slaughter, just as we'd hope they would speak for us were our situations reversed. So it's a start, Al, but we demand more than hedged bets right now. And that's no joke.
